We have compiled some of the best places to go in 2019. From emerging destinations to the hottest new hotel openings. Here are some of our top choices:
Matera is known for its unique cave dwelling but for decades, these caves were unsanitary and inhabitable. Thanks to years of restoration though by conservatives and entrepreneurs, the city is making a major comeback. Now Matera has created unique hotels like Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita. The city will also hold different events this year such as a series of marching bands from the region of Basilicata and across Europe.
Berlin marks two major anniversaries this year such as the centenary of the Bauhaus and the 30th year since the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Bauhaus Festival was celebrated last January at the Akademie der Kunst. It is good to visit some of Berlin’s UNESCO Heritage-listed Bauhaus sites that include Mies van der Rohe house.
Singapore will be a popular destination this year following the success of the movie Crazy Rich Asians. It comes at a perfect time as the country will celebrate the bicentennial of its founding by Sir Stamford Raffles. Together with the celebration, Raffles Singapore is set to come mid-year after a total renovation by Champalimaud, and Changi Airport recently showcased its new terminal. Together this year will be the opening of new hotels such as the Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, Six Senses Duxton and Six Senses Maxwell, and three new hotels on Sentosa Island.
